[NEWSLETTER] SERI's latest newsletter is out (21 October 2026).

Newsletter 2026 I

This year, SERI marks 16 years of advancing socio-economic rights through strategic litigation, research, and advocacy.

Since beginning its work in 2010, SERI has partnered with communities across South Africa to challenge injustice, strengthen constitutional democracy and advance the rights of people facing poverty, inequality, and exclusion. Over the past 16 years, the organisation has worked alongside informal settlement residents, inner city communities, informal traders, farm workers, domestic workers, mineworkers, waste reclaimers, social movements and many others to secure meaningful social and economic justice.

Throughout this journey, SERI has contributed to landmark court judgments that have shaped South Africa's constitutional jurisprudence and strengthened protections for housing rights, labour rights, equality, social security, access to justice and democratic participation. Alongside its litigation, the organisation has produced influential research, policy papers, community guides and advocacy resources that continue to inform public debate and policy, while supporting communities to better understand and assert their rights.

In this newsletter, we cover highlights from January 2026 to date.
